Ashville Kiwanis

President's Message

"We're all in this together" is a phrase we often hear and it's absolutely true. Hello, I'm Wayne Rayburn, President of Ashville Kiwanis 2008-2009 say if we're in it together, we can make it better together.

God has instilled in all of us the innate qualities of kindness, compassion and the willingness to serve a cause other than self. Civic and service organizations can provide a way for us to put this willingness to use, each serving its own cause. Ours is to help children and seniors. Some of our projects are the Easter egg hunt, the summer cookout and Christmas dinner for Louise Terrace, sponsoring the Teays Valley Invitational track meet, and providing a scholarship for a graduating senior at Teays Valley each year.

We're looking for a few men and women of good character to help make our community a better place to live. If you're interested in becoming a "Kiwanian", we meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Village Chapel United Methodist Church at 6:30 for food and fellowship. Please call me at 740-412-7773 for more information.

This newspaper is our primary fundraiser along with the pancake breakfast and mulch sale. The generosity of our advertisers make it possible for us to do much of what we do for the community. If you support them, they will help us, and we will help our kids and seniors. That pretty much puts us all in this together!

Merry Christmas from all the Ashville Kiwanis.
